Using TownCC your Townie

CC your Townie

Add your Townie to any email thread, tell them what you need, and they’ll take it from there. It works with anyone on the thread, inside or outside your company. No one else needs Town, an account, or an install.

How to CC your Townie

  1. Find your Townie’s email address. It’s their own @town.com address, shown in your Settings.
  2. Add them to the thread. Put your Townie on CC (or To), on a new email or a reply.
  3. Tell them what you need, right in the email. For example: “Alex, can you find 45 minutes next week for the three of us?”

Your Townie picks it up from there and replies in the thread.

What to try

  • Share what someone asked for. “Alex, it’s Ana’s first day on the CX team. Please share the team’s KPI dashboard and the five most recent user interviews.” Your Townie finds them and checks with you before sharing.
  • Schedule with a group. “Alex, find 45 minutes late this week for all of us.” Your Townie checks calendars, offers times in everyone’s time zone, and sends the invite.
  • Reschedule. “Alex, Eric can’t make Thursday’s call. Can you find a new time? Deepti’s in the London office, so make sure it works for her.”
  • Close the loop. Your Townie follows up when someone goes quiet, so the thread keeps moving.

How your Townie behaves on a thread

  • They reply as themselves. Your Townie sends from their own @town.com address, so everyone on the thread knows who’s talking.
  • They never send as you. Anything that goes out from your email address still needs your approval first.
  • They sidebar with you when needed. If a request goes beyond what you asked for, your Townie emails just you to check first. We call this a sidebar. The rest of the thread doesn’t see it, and if you don’t answer, nothing gets shared.
  • They’re careful with sensitive information. Your Townie won’t share private details with the group.

Who sees what

  • Everyone on the thread sees your Townie’s replies.
  • Only you see sidebars.
