Mercury

Connect Mercury and your assistant can work with your business banking — balances, transactions, statements, treasury, and credit — so cash briefs, spend answers, and transaction memos happen without leaving Town.

What’s included

With Mercury connected, your assistant can:

  • Read balances and accounts — checking, savings, treasury, and credit accounts
  • Search transactions and statements — activity across accounts, plus monthly statements
  • Keep the books tidy — set transaction notes and categories, and manage custom categories
  • Request payments and transfers — filed as requests that wait for approval in Mercury

How to connect

  1. Go to Integrations and find Mercury
  2. Click Add account, keep or edit the label, then click Continue
  3. Sign in with your Mercury account and authorize Town
  4. Return to Town

Mercury connections are personal — each teammate connects with their own Mercury login, and it can’t be connected for a whole team.

What it’s great for

  • Cash briefs — “what’s our runway at this burn?” answered from live balances
  • Spend answers — total contractor spend this quarter, or explain the charge that doubled
  • Transaction memos — match charges to email receipts and draft the notes for your approval
  • Close prep — pull last month’s statements and transaction totals for the books

Good to know

  • Your assistant sees only the Mercury accounts and data your Mercury user can see.
  • Payment and transfer requests are held for your approval in Town, and even then only file a request in Mercury that waits for approval there before any money moves.
  • Mercury doesn’t share your saved recipients with Town, so your assistant can’t look up a payee by name — a payment request needs the recipient ID from you. Transfers between your own accounts don’t.
  • Category changes and transaction notes apply immediately in Mercury once approved in Town — set those tools to Ask each time in routines that make changes.
  • Sensitive details — recipient bank details, cards, tax forms, invoices — aren’t exposed to Town.
  • To revoke access, remove the account in Town or revoke Town’s access from your Mercury settings.
