The new Town
Town now works like messaging. Tell your Townie what you need, the same way you’d explain it to a coworker, and they’ll organize the work. You don’t need to figure out which feature to use first.
What changed
- One main chat. Town opens to your ongoing conversation with your Townie. Use it to start new work, check on something in progress, find an old decision, or handle the small things that come up during the day.
- Tasks are now threads. Research, planning, and longer projects each get their own thread.
- Less on screen. Your Townie shows short progress updates instead of every step. You see the result.
- Your conversations in one place. Conversations from email, text, and Slack show up in your threads.
Where are my tasks?
Your tasks are now threads in the sidebar (anything you’d pinned stays pinned). To close one out, archive it. Archiving replaces the old checkbox.
Want a task-like list? Pin the threads you’re working on to keep them in view. Pinned threads stay in the Pinned section at the top of your sidebar.
How do I start a thread?
Two ways:
- Just ask. When something needs more room, your Townie will suggest moving it into a thread.
- Start one yourself. Branch a new thread from any reply in your main chat, or start a fresh one.
How do I add someone to a thread?
Open the thread and add them. Their Townie joins too. If they aren’t on Town yet, they’ll get an invite.
What does my Townie do on its own?
You decide what your Townie can do on its own. It keeps the work moving and checks with you before anything important goes out.
