Mercury integration FAQ
The Mercury MCP is Mercury's hosted Model Context Protocol server at mcp.mercury.com/mcp — the official integration surface Mercury maintains. MCP is the open standard that lets AI assistants securely work with data from apps — in this case your Mercury accounts, balances, statements, transactions, treasury, and credit. Town connects to it in one click; you sign in with your own Mercury login, no API keys or local setup.
Access runs through your own Mercury sign-in, so your Townie can only see the accounts your Mercury user can see, and it reads on demand — no background sync or copied database. Every Mercury action that changes something is held for your approval in Town, and payments and transfers additionally wait for approval in Mercury before any money moves. Read more about how Town approaches security.
Not on its own, and never in one step. When you ask, Town can draft a payment or transfer request, which is held for your approval in Town — and even then it only files a request in Mercury that waits for approval there before any money moves. Day to day the connection reads: balances, transactions, statements.
Your accounts and balances, statements, transactions, treasury accounts, credit accounts, expense categories, and pending payment approvals, read on demand. With your approval, your Townie can also set transaction notes and categories, manage custom categories, request transfers between your Mercury accounts, and file a payment request when you give it the recipient. Recipients' bank details, cards, tax forms, and invoices aren't exposed — Mercury's server keeps the sensitive surface out of reach.
A Mercury account and a Town account — free to start. You connect with your own Mercury login, and the connection works on every Town plan. One thing to know: Mercury connections are personal, so each teammate connects their own Mercury access rather than sharing one for the team.
Mercury is the banking: accounts, cards, payments, treasury. Town is the AI assistant working on top of the numbers — the Monday brief emailed, the charge explained, the memo written — before you'd have thought to open the dashboard.
What is Mercury?
Mercury is the banking platform startups run on — checking and savings accounts, treasury, corporate cards, and payments in one dashboard, with the approvals and controls a finance team needs.
Mercury moves the money; Town keeps you ahead of it. Connected, your balances, transactions, and statements become the Monday brief, the on-the-spot answer, and the memo already written, wherever you work.
